Everybody Wins! DC at a Glance

 

Everybody Wins! DC was founded in 1995 and is the largest children's literacy and mentoring program in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

 

Mission Statement: The mission of Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) is to pair at-risk students with reading mentors to instill a love of reading and learning and foster a sense of self-esteem.

 

EW!DC operates three programs (see below) in 39 Title I public elementary schools, reaching more than 4,000 underserved children in the Washington Metropolitan area.

  • Power Lunch program: Professional adults are paired with elementary school students to read, one-on-one, weekly during lunch.
  • Readers Are Leaders program: Older students are paired with younger children to read together.
  • StoryTime: Storytellers, authors and performers provide monthly programs to Title I public elementary schools that are not served by Power Lunch or Readers Are Leaders.
