Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) is pleased to announce an exciting book drive initiative this upcoming holiday season! We are requesting that organizations in the Washington Metropolitan Area put a new spin on their annual holiday parties and luncheons by encouraging staff members to donate brand news book to EW!DC. Collected books will be distributed to students served by EW!DC’s three signature programs.
Two Barnes & Noble stores in the Washington Metropolitan Area named Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) as the beneficiary organization for their Annual Holiday Book Drives. Participating are the Downtown store in DC and the Bethesda store in Maryland. The Holiday Book Drive allows Barnes & Noble customers to purchase books appropriate for children in Pre-K through eighth grades, which will be distributed to students served by EW!DC.
In the business world, what does it mean to be committed? For The Washington Post, commitment has led to a 16-year relationship with elementary school children, reading one-to-one weekly with full devotion, involving hundreds of employees through the years.
Listen to what veteran teacher and education writer Francie Alexander has to say:
“A student’s vocabulary — the words he or she can understand when reading and listening and use when writing and speaking -- is critical to success in school. This is the reason vocabulary is an essential element of effective reading programs as described in up-to-date research documents.”
Everybody Wins! DC would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation for their incredible support in organizing a successful Sixth Annual Redskins Read Book Drive.
