By EW!DC / Published: 11/29/2011

Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) is proud to announce that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will serve as the Lead Mentor Corporate Sponsor for the Power Lunch program at Francis Scott Key Elementary School in  Arlington, VA. This new partnership with PwC will further EW!DC’s mission to promote literacy and enrich the lives of students at this school, its community and beyond. It directly aligns with PwC's focus on corporate responsibility and making a local impact.

Through PwC’s financial support, the program at Key Elementary will serve 75 students during the 2011-2012 school year, providing each with an opportunity to discover the love of reading and enhance self-esteem. The Power Lunch program pairs professional adults with elementary school students once a week, for reading and conversation.

“PwC has been a long-time Gala supporter and is a current Power Lunch partner. We are excited that they have taken the next step to become a Lead Mentor Corporate Sponsor,” remarked EW!DC Executive Director, Mary Salander.  “We truly appreciate not only their financial contribution, but also the donation of time, which their employees offer weekly as Reading Mentors at Key Elementary.”

“PwC is proud to support Everybody Wins! DC. We first got involved with EW!DC in 2006 by attending the Annual Gala and we continue to support it annually,” explained Scott Thompson, PwC partner.  “In 2009, 11 PwC readers signed up for the Power Lunch Program, and after hearing so many inspiring stories in 2010 the number of readers increased."

EW!DC’s Board of Directors launched the Lead Mentor Corporate Sponsor initiative during the summer of 2010.  It provides a unique opportunity for leading companies to assume prominent roles in our effort against illiteracy by supporting the Power Lunch, Readers Are Leaders, or StoryTime programs at specific schools.
