EW!DC Receives $10,000 Grant from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield to Host ‘Healthy Month’ Initiative in Power Lunch Program
WASHINGTON, D.C (May 12, 2017) — Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) will kick off the Feeling Good About Me! Healthy Month Initiative this week! EW!DC is honored to receive a $10,000 grant from CareFirst to host this wellness and literacy campaign in all 11 of its Power Lunch programs in low-income elementary schools across the Washington Metropolitan Area. All Power Lunch programs will receive health education books for their book carts. Students in six schools – Amidon-Bowen Elementary, Garrison Elementary, Marie Reed Elementary, Savoy Elementary, Thomson Elementary, and Tyler Elementary – will also receive a health education book to take home to add to their personal libraries.

January 11, 2017- On Wednesday, representatives from the Department of Education’s White House Liaison Office (WHLO) and the Department of Education presented the Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) Power Lunch program at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School with over 80 new books, collected by employees during a holiday book drive. The books will be added to the Power Lunch bookcarts at Amidon-Bowen where students and their Reading Mentors can enjoy them during their weekly reading sessions.
