With the help of our friends at Mount Vernon Triangle CID, EWDC launched its newest project, a community-based book distribution effort to provide FREE books and literacy supports to children in high-need neighborhoods.
This morning, EWDC delivered more than 600 books of all age groups and shared reading resources to apartment buildings near our partner school, Walker-Jones Education Campus. These buildings include dedicated intergenerational housing – grandparents raising their grandchildren – along with affordable housing developments.
With schools and libraries closed due to COVID-19, access to books has never been more important. Many children are at home with limited activities to keep them active and engaged, so EWDC has stepped in to give children the resources they need to build greater connections at home through reading.
