To kick off the holiday season, EWDC volunteers spread the joy of shared reading by delivering book bundles to Little Free Libraries across the District. A group of nine volunteers, complete with elf hats and holiday sweaters, distributed 270 books through 7 wards and Northern Virginia.
As EWDC has been expanding The Book Project to make access to books possible for more students, this was a fun and engaging way for our volunteers to get involved and distribute free books throughout the city.
EVERFI volunteer, Jacquie Moen, delivered 80 books to libraries in Wards 7 and 8 with her children, and remarked: “Distributing books around Washington, DC reinforced for my family the importance of thinking of every single ward in our city. We were thrilled to have a lot of diversity featured in the books that we were delivering, and it felt great to fill up an empty library – especially ones that were near schools or parks.”
