The EWDC Book Project distributed more than 1,000 books to students in DC from January 27th to February 12th, a campaign to “Give the Love of Reading” to youth in advance of Valentine’s Day. EWDC staff worked at two book distributions with our partner schools Garrison ES and Marie Reed ES, helping students choose free books to keep when they came to pick up their supply packets for virtual learning.
EWDC also provided books for youth of all ages in programming with our community partners at Jubilee Housing and House of Ruth. Jubilee Housing is an organization located in Ward 1 which makes affordable housing and family services possible for low-income families in DC. House of Ruth offers housing and comprehensive support for women, children, and families facing homelessness, abuse, and trauma.
EWDC is proud to partner with these organizations to expand equitable access to diverse, engaging, and fun books in the home for all youth.
