Read in Color Initiative Launches in Washington, D.C.

Everybody Wins DC has partnered with Little Free Library and Van Metre Homes to bring the Read in Color initiative to neighborhoods in and around Washington, DC. Through this effort, EWDC will place 21 new book-sharing boxes in high need communities across the Washington, DC region + continually fill them with books that highlight diverse characters, elevate marginalized voices, promote equality, inclusion + social justice.

Centronia students cut ribbon to unveil new Little Free Library

Washington’s first Read in Color Little Free Library was unveiled at the CentroNía educational facility on June 23 with a ribbon-cutting, story time, and book distribution for kids. Click here to watch the Read in Color launch.

EWDC Executive Director, Jordi Hutchinson on the partnership, “In partnership with Little Free Library, and by working with amazing organizations like CentroNia, we will be putting thousands of diverse books out into 21 new book-sharing boxes across the city. That’s thousands of opportunities to give a child a chance to see themselves on the page or hear their story told in a positive and inspiring way.”
